Post Comments
Content Tab
Comments
- Source: By default, this setting is set to 'Current Post'. It ensures that the displayed comments are those associated with the post you are currently editing or viewing. This is the typical use-case scenario. You can choose 'Custom' and manually select a post, which will fetch comments and post comments to the manually selected post.
- Load Dummy Data in Editor: If you flip this switch to 'Yes', the widget will load placeholder comments. These aren't real but are a fantastic tool for visualizing and tweaking your comments section before your post goes live.
- Enable Guest Mode in Editor: Turn this on to 'Yes' to activate guest mode. This will show you how the comment fields look to a user who isn't logged in, allowing you to format those fields accordingly.
Style Tab
You will find several sections here:
- Heading: Adjust the style of your comments section heading here.
- Comment Container: The box that wraps individual comments can be styled here.
- Comment Content: Fine-tune the look of the text within each comment.
- Author: Style the appearance of the comment author's name.
- Comment Form: The design of the form where users submit their comments can be altered here.
- Comment Form Fields: Customize the fields within the comment form, such as ‘Name’, ‘Email’, and ‘Comment’.
- Consent Checkbox: Style the checkbox that users may tick for GDPR compliance.
- Submit Button: Adjust the style of the button used to submit comments.
Action Links: Style links that are available for each comment like 'Reply', 'Edit', etc.
By clicking on any of these sections, you will reveal a set of styling options – background, typography, margins, padding, and borders – tailored for each element.
Troubleshooting the Common Error
Sometimes, things don't go as planned. If you see the following error in your Elementor Editor, follow these instructions to enable comments:
Check Elementor Settings:
- In Elementor editor mode, click on the gear icon to access post settings. This icon is located at the center of the editor panel.
- Locate preview settings, select a post, search for one of your blog posts, then save and apply.
WordPress Post Settings:
- Go to your WordPress dashboard.
- Navigate to Posts and choose the post featured in the Elementor template.
- Check for the Discussion meta box within the post editor. If it's not visible, select Screen Options at the top right and tick the Discussion checkbox.
- Ensure "Allow comments" is checked within the Discussion meta box.
WordPress Discussion Settings:
- Still within the WordPress dashboard, go to Settings > Discussion.
- Make sure the "Default post settings" permit comments on new articles. Note that individual posts may override these settings. Changes here will only be applied to new posts.
- Check for any specific instructions under "Other comment settings" or "Before a comment appears" that might block comments from showing up or being posted.
