Understanding Your JupiterX Theme License

Introduction

We know licensing can be tricky, with lots of fine print to navigate. That’s why we’ve put together this guide to help you clearly understand what’s included in your JupiterX theme license. Whether you're a developer, a freelancer, or a business owner, knowing how your license works is essential to staying compliant and making the most of your purchase.

Regular License: One Domain, Multiple Use Cases

JupiterX, like all themes sold on ThemeForest, follows Envato’s Standard Licenses. The most common license users purchase is the Regular License, which is ideal for most personal and client projects.

What You Get with a Regular License

Single Domain Use: The license allows you to use JupiterX on only one domain. If you need it for multiple domains, you must purchase additional licenses.

Subdomains & Site Directories: If your site has subdomains (e.g., staging.yourdomain.com ) or subdirectories (yourdomain.com/demo ), they are covered under the same license.

Development Sites: You can use your license on a staging or local development environment. If your staging site is under the same domain (e.g., staging.yourdomain.com ), you do not need to revoke the license. However, if moving to a different domain, revoke the API Key and re-register it on the new domain.

GPL License: What’s Covered and What’s Not

JupiterX is 100% GPL-licensed, which grants you the freedom to use, modify, and redistribute the theme codebase. However, some components are not covered under GPL.

What is 100% GPL?

✔️ JupiterX theme core code

What is NOT 100% GPL?

JupiterX Core plugin (required for full functionality)

Ready-made templates

Bundled third-party plugins (e.g., Master Slider, Slider Revolution, etc.)

Customer support & future updates (available only with a valid purchase)

Key Takeaways About GPL in JupiterX

  • You can modify and redistribute the theme’s core code.
  • You cannot redistribute proprietary plugins or templates included with the theme.
  • You need a valid purchase code to access premium support and future updates.

  3. Enter your purchase code to generate an API Key.
  4. Use the API Key to register your theme inside WordPress > JupiterX > Control Panel.

📌 Note: JupiterX licenses require real domain names for activation and cannot be registered using an IP address.

Troubleshooting Common License Issues

1. Can’t activate JupiterX on my IP address?

Solution: Register your theme on a domain name, as activation via IP addresses is not supported.

2. Moving my site to a new domain – what should I do?

Solution: Revoke the API key from your old domain inside the Artbees Portal, then generate a new one for the new domain.

3. My purchase code is not working – what’s wrong?

Solution: Double-check that you’re entering the correct purchase code from your ThemeForest License Certificate.

  1. How can I transfer my license to a client?

Solution: According to Envato "You may charge your client for your services to create an end product, even under the Regular License. But you can’t use one of our Standard Licenses on multiple clients or jobs".
