Creating an Engaging Background Video in JupiterX

Adding a background video to a section or container can transform an ordinary webpage into an engaging visual experience for your visitors. Whether you want to create a dynamic hero header or an intriguing background for your content sections, JupiterX makes it simple to get started. Here’s how to add and edit a background video on your website.

How to Add a Background Video

  1. Choose Your Section or Container: Navigate to the Elementor editor and select the Section or Container where you want to add the background video.
  2. Access Style Settings: Click on the “Style” tab to open the background settings for that section.
  3. Set Background Type: Within the Background settings, click on the video icon to set your background type to video.
  4. Add Video Link: Enter the video URL in the "Video Link" field. This can be a YouTube, Vimeo link, or a direct link to an .mp4 file.
  5. Start & End Time: Optionally, specify the "Start Time" and "End Time" in seconds to play only a portion of your video.
  6. Play Once: If you want the video to play only once instead of looping, switch the "Play Once" option to Yes.
  7. Play on Mobile: To allow the background video to play on mobile devices, set the "Play on Mobile" option to Yes, keeping in mind device compatibility.
  8. Privacy Mode: For YouTube videos, enable "Privacy Mode" if you wish to reduce tracking for users not logged in to YouTube.
  9. Background Fallback: Upload a cover image that will serve as a fallback in case the video fails to load.

Tip: Enhance your video by applying a "Background Overlay." This setting allows you to add a color or darken the video making text or other elements stand out.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Issues with Autoplay

  • iOS Devices: Autoplay may not work if power-saving mode is on. Turn it off in your phone settings.
  • Android Devices: If Data Saver is enabled, autoplay might be blocked.

Note: Autoplay policies on Chrome browsers may also affect video autoplay.

YouTube and Vimeo Considerations

  • For YouTube backgrounds, related videos cannot be disabled and titles may appear due to YouTube's API changes.
  • Vimeo premium accounts have the option to remove controls and titles from background videos.

Remember that the autoplay feature and certain customizations depend on various factors including browser policies and account types (such as Vimeo Premium). Always test your background video across different devices and browsers to ensure the best viewing experience.

By following these steps, you can effectively add and manage background videos in JupiterX, creating an immersive and visually appealing website for your audience.
